Sara and Zach had a history in Baltimore, having lived there previously. We began at the waterfront, a modern backdrop for the couple.
Couples may not have a vision for their shoot. They look for direction from the photographer. That’s where I come in! Sara and Zach knew they wanted engagement pictures, but they didn’t really know what they wanted.
It was a sunny and windy day, and we used the natural light to give the pictures a warm glow while we had some fun taming hair in the wind.
As we went around Fell’s Point, we took pictures in several locations that helped bring out their chemistry.
Opening up to the camera can be difficult for a couple. It’s natural for them to feel awkward or watched. We go through different poses and locations so the couple can warm up, get in groove, and forget that a camera is watching them.
They brought their dog along as well, an intimate part of the couple, which gave the pictures a different side of their relationship.
It’s always exciting to see the couple relax and find each other in the midst of the chaos to give the pictures their own flavor. Later during the shoot, we walked a short distance to another location in Baltimore, with cobbled streets and townhouses. In the gorgeous sun, the town looked particularly cozy and open, and we took our last pictures in that ambience.
